Red Slam Collective has been continuing to blaze after an amazing trip to Van City this February to support both the Pan-African Slam and Sentinel Shores Red Wire event. When we got back to the Tdot in mid February members of the RS Crew represented at the Central and Silver Dollar in the Tdot and the Decolonizing Our Minds Conference.

On the 4 Directions Urban Arts Workshop Updates:
Mahlikah Awe:ri the RS Artistic Coordinator for our arts facilitation programs for the Month of February we relaunched our “My Owena; My Okra” workshop series at Driftwood P.S. in Jane & Finch where three grade 5 classes are working on writing collective rap tracks they will record which reflect the 7 Grandfather Teachings. My Owen; My Okra Link Mahlikah joined a team of writers to participate in the Young Writers Edge Diaspora Dialogues Mentorship for High School students. The showcase will be March 30th. At the end of February Mahlikah led two workshops promoting healthy-positive self-imaging for young girls for the 4th annual Sister2Sister TDSB Grade 8 Girls Conference. The girls expressed self-affirming poetics orally and through choreography.
